Termming has been operating a new thermal power plant in Kanyanka since September

Bratislava, 5 September 2016

Termming, a.s., a member of the ENGIE Group, took over the thermal power plant in the village of Kanianka on 1 September 2016 under a twenty-year lease. This is the 16th heat farm operated by the ENGIE Group in Slovakia.

The ENGIE Group already provides its services in the Prievidza district in the production, distribution and sale of energy in the municipality of Lehota pod Vtáčnikom. The new heating plant in Kanianka, which was added to the company’s portfolio in September, consists of two boiler plants – a gas-fired and a combined gas and biomass boiler plant, as well as several KOSTs (compact heat transfer stations). As part of the contract, Termming has committed to invest EUR 400,000 in the first three years. As part of the modernisation of the newly-acquired heat management system in Kanyanka, the biomass heat production will be expanded, specifically by reconstructing the gas and biomass boiler plant and building an interconnection between the two boiler plants. The company later plans to reconstruct other secondary heat distribution systems in the village, which will reduce the failure rate and ensure greater stability and continuity of energy supply to the population.

“Our main objective is to promote greener heat production from renewable heat sources, namely biomass, and last but not least to strengthen our position in the region. The new project will also have a positive impact for the residents of Kanianka. The already mentioned planned modernisation of the heat management will lead to an increase in the efficiency of heat production, lower losses in the heat distribution system and an overall improvement in the quality of the services provided,” says František Sás, Director of Energy Controlling and Support Activities at ENGIE Services.
