Employer support for the younger generation of students is a key element for talent development. We at the ENGIE Group in Slovakia are also aware of this and have long been cooperating with several vocational secondary schools. Students from these schools have worked on our projects as part of vocational training, which alternated with theoretical teaching. We have succeeded in taking vocational secondary education in our company to a higher level this school year 2024/2025. We have obtained dual education certificates in 3 cities – Bratislava, Nitra and Poprad.
Thanks to the certification, we were able to welcome 7 students who are part of the dual training in our teams, in addition to 11 students doing professional practice.
How is dual training different from apprenticeships?
Dual training, similar to apprenticeships, links theoretical training at school with practical training directly at ENGIE. However, in dual training, we choose the students we want to employ during their studies with us. Thus, in dual training, the student starts his/her work experience in the first year and continues throughout his/her studies. In addition, he or she receives a financial reward for his or her work with us and is our employee from day one.
Students are looked after by fellow dual education instructors. They pass on their experience, monitor their activities and evaluate their work. They simply work towards their active integration into working life.
What kind of students are we looking for?
Suitable students should have a forward-thinking and innovative mindset, a strong motivation to learn new things and a desire to work with modern technology. They should be creative, responsible and respect the rules of work and the working environment. Teamwork is a very important quality. Students should be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and be part of our inclusive workplace that offers equal opportunities for all. Dual education at our school is not just for boys. We are happy to welcome girls in our teams too.
Our benefits for students
In addition to the dual training itself, during which students gain valuable advice and experience in the field they are studying, we offer them the opportunity to stay with us in one of our open technical positions. In addition, we support career development and internal mobility. Students and graduates thus have the opportunity to advance to highly qualified management positions in the future. At ENGIE, we have several success stories of colleagues who have progressed to top management through internal mobility.
What else can we offer our students?
- International know-how – world trends in Slovak practice
- Promoting innovation and education in the energy sector
- Stable working background in a large corporation
- Employee-oriented company culture
- Job mobility in international teams
- Financial compensation paid monthly: stipend
- Allowance for productive work

Young talents have an open door with us
Talent development, including through dual training, is important to us at ENGIE. Age-diverse groups create more innovative ideas and solutions. We strive to create space for different generations in our workplaces, which helps us to increase productivity, make better decisions and deliver more innovative solutions for different customer segments.
We are happy to have students as an integral part of our teams, also thanks to dual education. We keep our fingers crossed for them in their professional development and we are already looking forward to our cooperation in the future.
