The public tender, the subject of which was the delivery and installation of technological equipment for cooling and freezing of warehouses in the company Ryba Žilina, was won last year by the company Cofely. The project started in September 2014. In addition to delivery and installation, Cofely also designed and prepared the entire implementation project. The specification of the individual elements of the equipment was given in the tender, but the hydraulic design was prepared by the implementation team of Cofely’s contracting division. “When preparing the implementation project, we focused on reducing the energy consumption of the equipment and ensuring a constant cooling and freezing temperature, which should have a positive impact on increasing OHS, reducing general hazards due to lower ammonia levels and reducing overall operating costs,” says Marian Horov, Cofely’s project manager. The process equipment was replaced in the “Freezer Cube” building, which consists of five floors. Two floors are designed for cooling (max. temperature + 5 C) and the remaining one for freezing products (temperature down to – 28 C).
“We were able to implement the technology replacement during full operation. We gradually disconnected individual floors, installed new equipment and all this while fully using the original technology. The replacement was also challenging with regard to ammonia disposal. From a total of 7 tonnes, the amount of ammonia used was reduced to 2 tonnes, which certainly has a positive impact on the environment,” adds Marian Horov. The project was completed on 7 April 2015 and the facility is currently undergoing a 60-day trial run. However, the handover of the project is not the end of the cooperation between Cofely and Ryba Žilina. On the contrary, based on the positive experience, professional approach and high quality of the project implementation, Cofely will also provide technical management and maintenance of the facility for Ryba Žilina from 1 June 2015. The contract includes technical operation of cooling and heating equipment, energy management, regular servicing and inspection of technological equipment.
“In the framework of cooperation with Cofely, I would like to highlight the helpfulness and high professional level of the employees throughout the project implementation. In case of disputable situations, we have always found a common solution, while managing to maintain the quality of implementation and the agreed construction schedule,” confirms Ján Mozoľa, head of the Fish Žilina project.
