Reconstruction of the heat management will bring benefits to Pezin residents

After the Cofely Group subsidiary Termming acquired the thermal power plant in Pezinok in 2013, it began significant investments in its renovation. Currently, the installation of KOSTs and the replacement of hot water pipelines is underway. The above-mentioned works mainly affect the residents receiving heat from the boiler houses Juh and Sever.

When signing the lease agreement, Termming undertook to invest EUR 5.3 million over the first five years, mainly in the reconstruction of the thermal equipment. “We want to use new technologies, such as biomass to create a dual-fuel base,” says Jozef Smolka, Director of the Energy Production and Distribution Division. The state in which the thermal economy in Pezinok was in was unsustainable, which was reflected in the unreliable supply of heat and hot water, especially during the heating season. The reconstruction will definitely eliminate this undesirable situation. This year, Termming proceeded with the installation of so-called KOSTs at all consumption points directly in the houses. Also, the replacement of the hot-water pipelines in the North and South circuits is underway, which is associated with excavation work. “We are aware that these works limit the inhabitants of Pezinok to a certain extent. However, the replacement of the pipelines is necessary. We are convinced that after the completion of the reconstruction, the inhabitants of Pezinok will appreciate the results of our work in the form of reliable energy supply and significant savings,” adds Jozef Smolka. The price for heat consumption will not exceed its maximum, which customers have been paying so far. On the contrary, it will gradually decrease. Termming implemented noise-proofing measures immediately after taking over the farm. Initial technical adjustments were also made to increase the efficiency of heat production, particularly at the South boiler house. This year, in addition to the aforementioned pipelines, KOSTs should be installed – 32 in the North and 27 in the South. Thanks to them, the house will only pay for the heat it takes and will start and stop heating according to its needs. Termming, a member of the Cofely, a.s. group, has already completed several similar successful projects – in Malacky and Vrakuni. In addition to the heat farms in the capital city, the Cofely Group also manages heat farms in Brezová pod Bradlom, Liptovský Mikuláš, Moldava nad Bodvou, Lehote pod Vtáčnikom, Malacky, Skalice, Senica and Stupava. GDF SUEZ was created in 2008 by the merger of two energy giants – SUEZ and Gaz de France. It provides services in the fields of energy, facility management and environment. Cofely is part of GDF SUEZ’s Energy Services, a separate division of the GDF SUEZ Group. With annual sales of €15 billion, Cofely has a presence in 40 countries and employs more than 90,000 people.
