As part of a new successful cooperation, we installed a 1,850 kW photovoltaic power plant for Slovak Grafija directly on the roof of their plant. Since September this year, the client has been using green electricity, generated from its own renewable energy source, to run the printing plant.
We have been successfully cooperating with Slovak Graphia, on and off, since 2015. In the past, we have provided the Bratislava plant with the supply, installation and servicing of various cooling equipment(absorption chiller, compact chillers, cooling towers and others).
On the basis of previous positive experiences and because we are perceived by our clients as a long-term and stable partner with a responsible approach, we signed a cooperation agreement for the supply and installation of a photovoltaic power plant in July 2023. Already in September we started the initial work and exactly one year later we managed to successfully complete the project with functional tests.
The photovoltaic power plant on the roof of Slovenska Grafia consists of 3,695 panels, with a total installed capacity of 2,050 kWp. The annual production of renewable electricity from the sun is 2 069 MWh, which represents a carbon saving of 486.2 tonnes ofCO2.
Why photovoltaic power plant?
By installing the power plant, Slovenská Grafia pursued two goals. The first, economic, was to reduce the cost of electricity. A photovoltaic power plant is also a very good investment for the future, with a certain return. In addition, funds from the Recovery Plan were used during the construction.
The second, green, objective was to increase the share of renewables, thus contributing to their energy decarbonisation plans.
How does Slovneska Grafia evaluate the cooperation?
“Since Slovenská Grafia has not yet had its own technology for electricity production, we perceived the construction of such a facility as a priority investment. Due to rising electricity prices, we started to consider building our own solar photovoltaic power plant. We chose this type of production because photovoltaic panels use the sun as a renewable energy source and do not burden the environment when producing electricity. At the same time, they do not produce CO2 emissions, make no sound or otherwise negatively affect nature in the surrounding area,” explains Ľuboš Ciklamíni, Technical and Investment Director of Slovak Graphia.
Cooperation continues
The installation of the photovoltaic power plant is not the end of our cooperation with Slovenská Grafia. On the contrary. We will continue to provide the technical operation of the power plant, which, in addition to standard maintenance and service, also includes continuous supervision (24/7), including regular predictive diagnostics.
We meet our decarbonisation KPIs over the long term
As a socially responsible company, ENGIE takes systematic and long-term steps to ensure that its activities promote nature conservation and sustainability. Moreover, projects such as the installation of a photovoltaic power plant help us to fulfil our common goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
