One of the country’s strongest multi-energy partners is being formed
The Veolia Energia Slovensko Group announces that, following approval from the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic and the fulfillment of all conditions, it has successfully completed the acquisition of selected companies of the ENGIE Group in Slovakia. The transaction is based on a share purchase agreement signed on January 14, 2026.
Seven companies are joining the Veolia Group: ENGIE Services, a. s., Račianska teplárenská a. s., Prvá ružinovská spoločnosť a. s., and their subsidiaries ENERGY DISTRIBUTION a. s., TERMMING a. s., Tepelné hospodárstvo Moldava a. s., and LMT a. s.
The result is the creation of one of the strongest private energy companies in Slovakia, with revenue exceeding 490 million euros and more than 1,370 employees.
There are no easy solutions in the energy sector today. Clients—both cities and industry—are simultaneously addressing three key challenges: security of supply, affordability, and sustainability.
“Both groups have a long history and a strong reputation in the Slovak market. We combine Veolia’s strength in energy resources and infrastructure with ENGIE’s close relationship with customers. This allows us to offer clients a comprehensive energy service—a solution that integrates energy production, energy savings, and risk management, and helps them navigate the energy transition as a whole,” says Peter Dobrý, CEO of the Veolia Energia Slovensko Group. This gives clients a partner that allows them to combine individual services as needed or take advantage of a comprehensive “one-stop” solution.
“This partnership is part of the Veolia Group’s long-term strategic direction in Slovakia and reflects developments in the energy market, the growing importance of decentralized energy solutions, and the need to strengthen customer-focused services. We have created a stronger platform for the development of energy services, technical management, local energy solutions, and projects focused on efficiency, flexibility, and decarbonization,” adds Peter Dobrý.
Nothing changes for customers. Energy supplies and property management services will continue without interruption, and all existing contracts remain in effect. Ongoing projects will be completed according to the original schedule. At the same time, clients gain access to a broader portfolio of services and new solutions in the energy sector.
ENGIE Group employees will remain part of the new entity. The merger will take place gradually, with an emphasis on preserving the teams’ expertise and continuity.
ENGIE Services, a. s. is changing its trade name to Veolia Energetické Služby Slovensko. Other new names within the group include: Veolia Distribúcia Slovensko, Veolia Teplo Slovensko, and Veolia Energia Moldava. All companies will continue to operate without interruption, both legally and operationally.
