Project: low-carbon strategy of organisations in the jurisdiction of the Prešov Self-Governing Region

Project start date: April 2021

Duration: 18 months

Goal:
The document sets specific goals in accordance with the National Carbon Scenario (NUS) for 2030 and 2050, thus providing a long-term framework for the sustainable development of organisations in the jurisdiction of the Prešov Self-Governing Region.

In particular, the strategy covered the following areas:

  • Energy and building renovation
Assessment of the current state of energy and technical condition of buildings in order to propose measures to reduce energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources. The backbone of the strategy is a building renovation plan that reflects the need for energy savings and RES installation.
  • Transport
The draft measures in the field of transport are based on the current legislative framework and follow the Sustainable Mobility Strategy of the PSK. The aim is to support the development of non-motorised and public transport and to maximise the decarbonisation of the transport sector within the region.
  • Waste Management
Assessment of the current state of waste production and management in PSK organisations, including a proposal for measures to improve monitoring and more efficient waste disposal.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of energy consumption – SMART solutions
A system has been designed to monitor energy consumption and emissions to enable ongoing evaluation of progress towards the strategy’s objectives.
  • Identification of barriers
The strategy also includes an analysis of the barriers to effective emission reductions and implementation of the proposed measures.
