Quality services in the field of supply, installation and servicing of cooling equipment, promptness and proactive approach – all these are the attributes that have made Slovenská Grafia cooperate with ENGIE Services for the second year already.
Slovenská Grafia, established in 1921, is the oldest original printing house in Slovakia. The company with 24-hour operation provides its printing services for Slovak and foreign clients. With its potential immediate hourly capacity of 12 million A4 pages per hour, it ranks among the top printing companies in Europe.
ENGIE Services has been cooperating with Slovak Graphia since January 2015. “We provide service and repair of cooling equipment for printers, specifically cooling units with their own control measurement system and cooling towers used to cool rotary printing machines,” says Peter Koman, senior project manager.
In 2016, ENGIE Services responded to the company’s needs regarding the addition – expansion of the cooling source in one of the cooling machine rooms. “Slovenská Grafia had only one refrigeration machine in the refrigeration engine room. The purchase of another cooling machine was necessary mainly to ensure continuous production of cold (in case of failure of the second cooling machine). We reacted promptly, and thanks to the quality and sophisticated project documentation, the favourable price and the quick response, we were able to win the contract.” explains Peter Koman.
The subject of the work was the delivery and installation of a Daikin chiller with a cooling capacity of 1 MW and the provision of all related works such as the modification of the cooling distribution, electrical installation work and the modification of metering and control. The actual installation of the chiller was carried out in August 2016 under full operation. The preparatory work was already carried out in May 2016, during one day when the plant was scheduled to be shut down for a power outage due to substation maintenance. “Our prompt and skilled approach to the installation of the cooling machine was appreciated by the client, who extended the cooperation to include the servicing of both machines,” says Peter Koman.
Slovak Grafia currently uses two cooling machines, each equipped with one screw compressor with a cooling capacity of 1MW. The chillers operate in standby mode and are rotated in the event of a breakdown or after a defined number of motor hours have elapsed, which extends the lifetime of the equipment and increases the reliability of refrigeration production. Such a huge cooling capacity achieved with only one screw compressor is a unique solution and advantage of the Daikin brand. For other brands, two or three compressors are required to achieve such cooling capacity.
“SLovenska Grafia operates around the clock and needs a quick solution in the event of a breakdown. I think it was our promptness and proactive approach that convinced the client that working with us was the right choice,” concludes Peter Koman.
