Employer support for the younger generation of students is a key element for talent development and innovation. As a global leader in the provision of total energy solutions, we at ENGIE Group also recognise the importance of investing in future professionals. The age curve of the population, and therefore of the workforce, is increasing and this fact is visible in practice in most companies. This is why we have long-standing relationships with schools, students and graduates. Within the framework of various projects, we provide them with practical and theoretical knowledge, which is essential for their successful career start.
What does cooperation look like in practice?
The cornerstone of our success is the pre-set opportunities we offer at ENGIE. Whether it is vocational training for students of secondary vocational schools across the country or cooperation with colleges and universities in the form of consultation of professional works. Over several years of cooperation, dozens of students have completed practical vocational training with us. In the 2023/2024 school year, that number was specifically 19 students. In the following school year 2024/2025, we expect to increase the number of students involved, while we have also expanded the number of secondary schools with which we are actively working. Our goal is to be an attractive employer for young people and to have them choose to stay with us after graduation.
Training sessions are held on our projects throughout the year and are accompanied by ongoing support not only from project managers but also from the Human Resources Department. And it is the Human Resources Department that regularly organises training courses for employees to prepare them to work with the younger generation. Thanks to the training, young people have the constant support of experienced mentors during their professional practice and onboarding. In addition, we strive for continuous improvement and are therefore open to constructive feedback. Whether directly from students and graduates, or also from colleagues in our projects.
In addition to vocational training, we also offer lectures to secondary vocational school students directly at their schools. They can learn more about how to prepare for job interviews or how to make their CV more attractive. We strive to offer information that will make it easier for students to enter working life.
Of course, we do not forget about Employer branding, which we are constantly improving and adapting to current trends in the labour market. We aim to be the first choice for students with a technical background.
We support the professional development of our young colleagues
In 2023, we were successful in recruiting several vocational high school graduates who had previously completed vocational training with us. We are delighted that they were so interested in ENGIE that they decided to start their careers on our projects.
We are no strangers to professional growth and personal development, and for recent graduates, it doesn’t end with vocational training. We offer our employees a range of certificates and training courses that they can complete with us (e.g. ordinances and certificates for electricians and maintenance technicians).
Thanks to the fact that ENGIE in Slovakia is part of an international corporation, we can also offer our employees the possibility of attractive work abroad, specifically on our projects around the world. And of course, we must not forget about language courses, which are always in great demand.
