Sport is a great activity for a young person. It keeps him fit, improves health, promotes thinking, teaches him to think and act as a team. However, it is no secret that without funding it is difficult, and sometimes impossible, to take up certain sports and keep sports clubs running. Awareness of these problems and the need to support a good cause motivated ENGIE Services to enter into a several-year advertising partnership with the basketball club INTER BRATISLAVA and this year’s partnership with the Good Angels Košice.
ENGIE Services has long supported sporting activities in addition to professional, educational, local and charitable projects. For the last three years, it has been the main advertising partner of one of the most successful basketball clubs in Slovakia – INTER BRATISLAVA. The history of the club dates back to 1963. BK INTER won the title of Czechoslovak champion four times, later also the Slovak champion and became one of the most successful clubs in Slovakia. At present it has nine teams – from the preparatory school to the 1st league and in addition to the A – team. Building on the successful cooperation with BK INTER Bratislava, ENGIE Services decided to support another basketball team – Good Angels Košice – in the last quarter of this year in the form of a product partnership. The most successful women’s basketball club was founded in 2001. Twelve times it won the Slovak championship and nine times it became the winner of the Slovak Cup.
“We see basketball as a team game – the success or failure of the whole team depends on the attitude of each player. The dynamics of the game, tactics, physical and mental resilience of the players – all this must be taught to young athletes. We are glad that even in today’s “over-technicalized” times there are young people who prefer physical exertion during training, learning discipline, perseverance, dedication and team spirit to the easier “getting lost” in the virtual world. We are proud that ENGIE Services supports basketball clubs in Slovakia. All the more so because we are also connected to basketball by our company’s core values, which can be found in this dynamic and collective game – Enthusiasm – Commitment – Courage – Cohesion,” says Róbert Ruňanin, Director of the Business Activities Division.
