Energy transformation is inevitable. Hybrid work is increasing demand for cooling, industry is tackling decarbonisation measures and energy prices will not return to pre-crisis levels. Those who adapt in time will gain a competitive advantage, says R\u00f3bert Ru\u0148anin, Sales Director of ENGIE Services, in the video podcast Trends in Business. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The covid pandemic has fundamentally changed the energy sector. While energy consumption in office buildings and shopping malls has fallen, household demand has risen significantly. <\/p>\n

“If an employee is working 50 percent of the time from home and has to perform in an apartment where it’s 32 to 34 degrees, it’s very challenging. That’s why there has been a greater requirement for cooling in residences as well,” <\/em> explains R\u00f3bert Ru\u0148anin, Sales Director of ENGIE Services.<\/p>\n

Developers are therefore increasingly taking the need for efficient cooling and heating<\/a> into account when designing new projects. A key trend is decarbonisation<\/a>. Companies have to adapt not only to European Union legislation but also to the requirements of supply chains. The carbon footprint is becoming a decisive factor. Small and large companies are already demanding that their partners implement sustainable solutions. <\/p>\n

Although energy prices have stabilised, a return to pre-crisis levels is unlikely. Experts therefore recommend investing in renewables<\/a> and energy efficiency. <\/p>\n

“Decarbonisation is not a one-off step, but a long-term process requiring a combination of several measures. The right choice of partner to ensure not only the design of the solution, but also its implementation and long-term operation, is key, <\/em>” states R. Ru\u0148anin, adding that the energy transformation is irreversible and companies that adapt to it in time will gain a competitive advantage.<\/p>\n

It recommends that companies start by analysing consumption, setting a clear strategy and implementing measures gradually.<\/p>\n
